with the parent plant in Attendorn and a subsidiary plant near Dresden and two manufacturing plants in Germany as well as a branch in Italy. At present outlets in more than 70 countries – with growing tendency! In addition the company with its subsidiary aquatherm-metall located in Attendorn has its own production of all turning work pieces (threaded inserts, etc.) on highest quality level…

Impressive results, considering that the managing director, Gerhard Rosenberg, established the company on 17th August 1973 in the cellar of his family home by developing the first underfloor heating system.

aquatherm GmbH had its official beginning with the registration in the register of companies in November 1973. After moving from barn to barn, the first industrial hall was constructed in Attendorn-Biggen in the year 1978.

Today the main plant of the company includes an attached tool making plant, a logistics centre, a training centre and also its own laboratory and technology development plant covering a constructed area of 49.720 m2 on a property spreading over 61.883 m2.

On 1st July 1991 the ground breaking ceremony took place in the Radeberg branch near Dresden; today this subsidiary produces approximately 10 million meters of pipes annually on premises of over 5.500 m2. That corresponds to a daily output of 40,000 meters of pipes on average. The location at Radeberg is optimally equipped with its own training centre and a monitoring laboratory.

In 2006 aquatherm manufactured more than 43 million meters of pipes as well as nearly 56 million fittings in diameters ranging from 16 mm to 250 mm. For the production of these products -next to other raw materials – approximately 14.000 tons of plastic granules have been processed. Impressive numbers, which tell its own tales!

This rapid development was provided by two facts: continuous development of the high quality products and the company´s permanent adjustment to the growing requirements. The probably most well known innovations in the recent years are the heating and cooling grids climasystem and the sprinkler pipe system firestop meanwhile approved with numerous national and international registrations.

The following data impressively demonstrate the modifications and extensions of the last years:

Already in March 2002, the logistics centre with an area of over 9,000 m2 and a total storage volume of 70,786.67 m2 started up on the adjacent and recently developed area Brückenweg. In consequence the earlier storage spaces now could be integrated with the production leading to an optimisation of the entire material flow.

After completing the logistics centre the company started the necessary expansion of the independent tool making plant on a total area of 736 m2. This was completed within a short span of two months only.

Thus the strong points of the aquatherm company, namely flexibility, short development periods and quick reaction to market requirements and its steadily increasing demands are a guarantee for its future. In the meantime nearly the entire area Brückenweg has been acquired and is now available for the company without restrictions for its future plans. Both preexsisting halls have been refurbished completely and meanwhile are being used as a warehouse, for the company´s booth construction department and also for the car care. Currently another storage with an effective area of appr. 700 m2 is constructed.

In order to meet the increasing training requirements for national and international customers, in 2003 the total area of the training centre, furnished with most modern equipment for seminars, has been threefold extended from 217 m2 to 623 m2. Here aquatherm´s guests are made familiar with the high standards of system engineering and the advantages of its products.

In spring 2006 the extension of the office building the has been moved into. Now the departments national sale, export, advertisement and accounting are ideal connected by short-range.

A modern four-storeyed building with a total area of 7430 m2 could be completed and moved into close to the logistics centre.

Next to a conference and guest area with an affiliated cafeteria, new rooms for the assembly department, manifold construction and packing department as well as with an integrated office area, an ultra-modern technology develop plant with annexed laboratory was constructed. Over 1500 m2 are available only for research and development. 14 assistants carry out physical and chemical tests (stability and resistance). Organoleptic (hygiene tests) as well as thermal analysis of organic and non-organic materials are tested, also microscopic analysis is made. Moreover modern testing equipment for mechanical tests as well as an experimental extrusion line and a special injection moulding machine guarantee a reduction of development times with improved quality at the same time.

The well-known innovation pleasure of the market leader in the field of PP-R pipe systems thus gets a new platform to expand with new products and further developments its position even in the future.

And when the parent company grows, then the subsidiary aquatherm in the neighbouring industrial area of Ennest will also have to grow. After several expansions in the production and storage areas a new 550 m2 office building was moved into in 2004.

Despite all extensions and the enormous growth – particularly during the last years – the management still has the motto: Slim structures with maximum efficiency should and will guarantee the strength of the private company in the future.
